Investigations

The Resolution Group also conducts workplace investigations. Employers, both public and private, often have a need for a simple fact finding, a full blown investigation with analysis and conclusions, or something in between.  Whether it is alleged misconduct, a workplace dispute, a safety concern, a labor issue, or unexplained losses, an investigation is always helpful and often legally required.

RSO specializes in misconduct investigations.  These types of investigations involve a wide range of potential misconduct, such as insubordination, misuse of government property, time and attendance issues, ethics violations, or other inappropriate behavior to include potential EEO violations. Workplace Misconduct Investigations determine if an employee has violated any agency policies, regulations, or laws. The goal of this type of investigation is to gather the facts and evidence to support any disciplinary or corrective actions the agency may need to take.

It is crucial that the investigator remains impartial and objective throughout the process, without bias towards either the accused employee or the agency. This helps ensure the integrity and fairness of the investigation, which is important for any potential disciplinary actions or appeals. Based on the findings of the investigation, the agency may take various disciplinary actions, such as reprimands, suspensions, demotions, or termination. The specific disciplinary action will depend on the nature and severity of the misconduct, as well as any mitigating or aggravating factors.

Many times agencies will conduct the workplace misconduct investigations themselves. However, an external investigator is often used if the allegations are unusually sensitive, involve high-ranking individuals within the organization, involve the organization(s) that usually conduct these investigations, or if there are factors which point to an actual or apparent conflict of interest.

Whatever type of investigation you might need, RSO can assist you and your legal counsel in determining whether the investigation should utilize: verbatim testimony, affidavits, signed but not sworn statements, or a summary of testimony in the report. Further, TRG can help you determine whether you want analysis, conclusions, recommendations, credibility determinations, or just a factual recitation of collected evidence.

The Resolution Group has a cadre of experienced attorney and non-attorney workplace investigators that can impartially and fully investigate potential all types of workplace misconduct.

Call RSO when you need an experienced outside professional to conduct an efficient, tailored, confidential and professional investigation.
